London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony called ‘The Isles of Wonder’
The London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony will be called ‘The Isles of Wonder’. Danny Boyle the artistic director for the spectacular opening ceremony said the theme came from Shakespeare’s play ‘The Tempest’ and that the show would celebrate the whole of the UK. Boyle is the Oscar winning Movie Director of Slumdog Millionaire.

Boyle also added “our Isles of Wonder salutes and celebrates the exuberant creativity of the British genius in an Opening Ceremony that we hope will be as unpredictable and inventive as the British people.” and he also revealed that there would be a sequence dedicated to the achievements of NHS and it would be performed by the nurses and other member staffs.
In the Olympic opening ceremony more than 900 school children will be perform which will be watched by billions on television world wide. He added: “We’re hoping to capture the sense of humour of the country, which can be difficult in a stadium show.
Boyle also revealed that the opening ceremony will “bounce out” from the Olympic Stadium as it tracks the Olympic Torch’s journey around London. Organizers will stage two full dress rehearsals in the Olympic Stadium, Stratford, east London. The pre-show for the opening ceremony will begin at the symbolic time of 8.12pm (20:12) on Friday 27 July before the ceremony itself begins at 9pm.
Organizers hope it will conclude by around 12am or just after to allow the 80,000 spectators to get public transport back to their hotels and homes.
